2 About Irvine Valley College Irvine Valley College (IVC) opened in 1979 as Saddleback College North, quickly earning a reputation for high-quality instruction and a supportive, student-centered environment. In July 1985, the campus became an independent institution and adopted its current name. The college was officially dedicated on October 22, 1985—now recognized as Founders Day— and received accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in 1988.
